friends,

we had to cancel a show tonight due to snow. lots of snow. in seattle. pretty nuts. but we have something special to show you, and hopefully it can tide you over until the next show.

we have been talking a lot lately about this tour. well, right about the time we dreamed up the tour, this song came around. you might say that the song inspired the tour and the tour inspired the song. for us, this tour meant quitting our jobs, throwing caution to the wind, packing up our stuff and leaving behind two years spent in LA and all the friends and memories that went along with it. but if we ever felt like not going through with it, like just staying put, this song kept us in line, a constant reminder of the truth. That for us, freedom meant and open road and a song in our hearts. This song has become a theme song of sorts for our new year and for the tour we are planning. we hope you can feel the passion in this one, because we feel it every time we sing it. thanks for being a part of our dream, we’ll see you soon.

Come be a part of our new record and help us support The Global Children’s Movement.

MAKE A PLEDGE

Badge

Friends,

So here’s how it works:  When you make a pledge towards funding our EP, based on your pledge amount, we have prepared some pretty sweet incentives to give back as our way of saying ‘Thank you’.  Also, your card will not be charged until we meet our total goal amount.  That’s right, it’s all or nothing. And without your help, this can’t happen!  Some of the awesome incentives are…

    • Your very own digital copy of our new record (release date, Aug 16th 2011)
    • Or how’s about an intimate dinner with Aaron and Matt
    • A private house concert
    • A hand written lyrics sheet
    • A signed fender guitar
    • And many more!

And once you have pledged,  you will have access to some awesome freebies — exclusive mp3′s, videos, demos, photos — as well as exclusive “Pledge Only” updates from us!

And because this is so important to us, aside from your generosity, we would ask that you pass this along to your friends and family –  we really need YOUR help on this!

Friends, we are so excited to have this opportunity and share it with our fans, friends and family!

So thank you ALL in advance, and LET’S MAKE A RECORD!

- Matt & Aaron

The Pacific.

hey friends.

first, here is a new song, without any introduction. listen while you read :)

now, let me talk about ‘other things’.

so, since our last post the window view engine has been running hard and it has taken us in a direction we didn’t think we were headed. but music is the kind of thing you cannot tame and lock in cages. we just try to hang on tight and direct it where it wants to go. so, all that to say, the plans for the EP have been set aside for now (not forever, necessarily). why, you ask? well we decided that we have a collection of songs that feels more urgent to us. that feels ripe and ready for ears. the songs that were destined for the EP will not be forgotten about, but we felt it was time to dive into the album we have been wanting to make since we started out. so, we have our sights set on recording another album. we have the songs we want so it is just a matter of finding the right situation to record them. we recorded all of out of order ourselves and while we could do that again, we feel that these new songs deserve a bigger canvas. they deserve a sound that I am just not sure we have the ability to capture on my humble recording setup. as to when this album will be out or what it will be called, both are as of yet undecided. but we are working hard to try and get it done the right way.

now onto the pacific.

the mood for this new album never really took shape before the pacific came around. the pacific is a new song that we recorded that really has set the bar for where we want to steer this thing. it’s a song that really pushes the boundaries for us musically and has challenged us to push what we can do with our arrangements and ideas. where did this new sound come from you ask? well, it’s important to know that Out Of Order was never really our first step forward. you might say it was a side-step. it was a chance for us to release a group of songs that really meant a lot to us and do it in a way that we were able to really do justice to the songs. we have always had our ears set on bigger sounds but we just didn’t feel the time was right. this new album is going to be our first attempt to capture those sounds. to give you all a taste of what it is that we are going for, we want to share with you the first song recorded for our new album. we hope you can sense our excitement because we couldn’t be more anxious to get these songs recorded and out to everyone. before this thing is done, there is much, much more to be ironed out, but for now we have the pacific. thanks for listening!

P.S. I found this fan-made video of a Window View oldie, and I thought I would give it some props by putting it up on our interweb site…

we say hello to thee, internet.

we love our cds ;)
this website marks the beginning of window view’s venture into ‘official website’-dom. it’s not the flash-iest (get it, all you ‘net geeks, it’s a pun) site but it’s ours. we will be using this corner of the web to periodically be providing updates on shows, news, and random happenings in the world of window view.

i suppose to summarize, for us, it’s about two things:

    community and music.

there was a time in my life where i confused the two and enrolled at a community-college music program, but no need to worry, it only lasted one quarter – i learned my lesson fast. but in short, we will be keeping those two big ideas as driving imperative here. and in the spirit of that, we will always be trying to think of new ways to accomplish these big ideas. i hope this is the beginning of a long and healthy stay in the house that Al Gore built/invented. yeah, i went there.
